In recognition of the efforts of Golf Clubs and other organisations to raise funds for wheelchairs, the Charity runs a prestigious annual golf tournament. The event is held at the Golf House Club Elie in Fife, some 12 miles south of St Andrews, in late September or early October.

Places in this golf tournament are dependent on the level of funds raised under the Golf Chair scheme. For every £2,500 raised to buy chairs, a valuable free place is earned, covering entry into the tournament and two nights accommodation, including breakfast and dinner, at the Craw's Nest Hotel, Anstruther. It follows that the more cash raised the more places are earned. Clubs usually gain a number of places with the most successful winning in excess of 20.

Many participants arrive early enough on the Monday to take advantage of a concessionary rate for a practice round over the outstanding and challenging Elie links course. An informal dinner is held on Monday, usually with a speaker.

The Masters is played on the Tuesday with Peter Alliss meeting everyone on the 1st tee and Ivor Robson, the official starter for the Open and European Tour, announcing each golfer including the growing number of ladies who play in their own competition. A very welcome watering hole at the 10th provides filled rolls and a good selection of beverages - from coffee to Scotland's national product. Lunch is provided in the clubhouse and, at the conclusion of play, a number of chairs are formally presented to local children.

That evening, at the hotel, a slightly more formal dinner takes place, usually with a guest speaker, followed by Peter, who gives his much awaited 'state of the golfing nation' address. The formalities conclude with the presentation of the coveted Green Jacket and the prize for the winner of the ladies' competition. Activities conclude after a leisurely breakfast on the Wednesday.

The cost of the tournament and the accommodation is met by the kind sponsorship of the Golf Chair Dealers through the Peter Alliss Masters charity.
